Webcasting / live streaming at Basildon Crematorium
The crematorium confirms that services can be made available as a live stream, and that recordings (and other keepsakes) can be provided after the service.
Music and visual tributes are supported via their media partner Obitus.
Some families use the venue’s built-in streaming. Others prefer an independent specialist when they want:
-
a private link they control
-
extra audio backup for readings/tributes
-
coverage that includes arrivals/cortege (where appropriate), not just the chapel

How our live streaming works at Basildon & District Crematorium
Discreet camera placement
We set up in an approved position so we’re not distracting, not blocking walkways, and not drawing attention during the service.
Clear audio (the most important part)
Where possible, we capture audio from the chapel’s system (or an appropriate source), with backups in place so readings, tributes and music remain clear for viewers at home.
Reliable streaming
We plan connectivity in advance and use the most reliable setup available on the day. If venue Wi-Fi isn’t suitable, we use an alternative approach so the stream stays stable for viewers joining from the UK and overseas.
Recording included
A full recording is provided afterwards, so anyone who couldn’t watch live can still view the service.

FAQs – Basildon & District Crematorium live streaming
Does Basildon Crematorium offer a live stream / webcast?
Yes. The crematorium confirms services can be available as a live stream, with recording options available afterwards.
Is the funeral livestream public?
No — it’s private. The link is shared only with the people you choose. If you want additional privacy, ask about password protection.
Do we get a recording afterwards?
Yes. A full recording is provided after the service so anyone who missed the live stream can still watch.
What if the mobile signal is poor.
We plan for this. Rural Kent can be variable, so we’ll discuss the location in advance and use the most reliable available setup. If live streaming genuinely isn’t possible at a specific spot, we’ll tell you upfront and offer the best alternative (like a high-quality recording). As well as multiple 4G Networks we also use satellite to stream, so pretty much anywhere is possible now
Will you be visible or distracting during the service?
Visible maybe but we work discreetly and respectfully, with equipment positioned to avoid disruption. Our aim is for you to barely notice we’re there.
Can you film arrivals or the cortege at this venue?
Yes — depending on venue guidance and timings on the day. Tell us what you’d like captured and we’ll advise the best approach.

To avoid any last-minute stress, we typically arrive 45–60 minutes before the service to set up, check audio, and confirm the stream is ready. If you’d like arrivals coverage, we’ll arrive earlier to capture it properly.
If your day includes a second location after the crematorium (for example a burial elsewhere), send us the timings and we’ll confirm what’s realistic.
